Wow. I had become quite bored with Sparks' latest novels, feeling they were cookie-cutter romance novels, but this book is a return to his old writing style. Similar to The Notebook, and A Walk to Remember, this book is a must read for any Sparks' fan, as well as anyone wanting an old fashioned love story...full of love, heartache, romance, fulfillment, tragedy, and sacrifice. Well done, well written, and just fabulous.

I went out a bought Dear John the day it came out and to tell you the truth I couldn't put it down. Sparks has finally returned with the perfect love story. This book recaptures the spirit and romance that was in my all time favorite Sparks novel The Notebook. Dear John is sure to capture your heart just like it has to me. I highly recomend this book to all true Nicholas Sparks fans out there and if you want to relive the true old fashion love story then definetly add this book to your collection. You won't be dissapointed!

As others have mentioned, I ran out and bought this the day it came out. His books are the only ones I will do that for. I couldn't put this book down. It tore my heart apart reading this and I wanted to shake some of the characters, hug some of them, and cry with them. Sparks did something with these characters to bring them to life for me and I found myself getting to know them and I even found myself talking out loud to them as I read. There were instances where I would say "What??? NO!" or "Just turn around and walk away!" This book will tear at your heart strings and cause the tears to flow freely. It's an emotional rollercoaster. Great book!!

I bought this book the day it came out, as I always do with his novels. I have liked all of his books, but this one I LOVE! This story will get right to your heart and make it melt. The characters seem so real, like you actually knew them. If you want a good love story (different from a romance novel because a love story always has tragedy in it), then I highly recommend this book for you. Wow - this is definitely a book I will read again and again as the years go by.

I know that everybody it writing such great reviews about this book, but i am not sure i agree. I loved most of it, and thought it was a great love story, and could not put it down just like everyone else. I was for some reason really disapointed though. I think i am ready for him to make a happy book. The past two books to me have turned out poorly and i am ready for a happy ending such as The Wedding! I really hope Sparks adds some light at the end of the tunnel for his next book, and I really hope it doesn't take as long this time to get this book out.
