Too Big to Fail The Inside Story of How Wall Street and Washington Fought to Save the Financial Syst Editorial Reviews

Source: Product Description

A real-life thriller about the most tumultuous period in America’s financial history by an acclaimed New York Times Reporter

Andrew Ross Sorkin delivers the first true behind-the-scenes, moment-by-moment account of how the greatest financial crisis since the Great Depression developed into a global tsunami. From inside the corner office at Lehman Brothers to secret meetings in South Korea, and the corridors of Washington, Too Big to Fail is the definitive story of the most powerful men and women in finance and politics grappling with success and failure, ego and greed, and, ultimately, the fate of the world’s economy.

“We’ve got to get some foam down on the runway!” a sleepless Timothy Geithner, the then-president of the Federal Reserve of New York, would tell Henry M. Paulson, the Treasury secretary, about the catastrophic crash the world’s financial system would experience.

Through unprecedented access to the players involved, Too Big to Fail re-creates all the drama and turmoil, revealing never disclosed details and elucidating how decisions made on Wall Street over the past decade sowed the seeds of the debacle. This true story is not just a look at banks that were “too big to fail,” it is a real-life thriller with a cast of bold-faced names who themselves thought they were too big to fail.

The Kindle version is far too expensive--how can you justify it costing MORE to get an electronic version of a book?
Rating: 5 (Well done objective recap of history)

Does an excellent job of detailing what appears to be first hand accounts of one of the most significant periods in U.S. financial history.
A must read for anyone in the financial industry looking for perspective of recent events.
Also an essential read for those outside the industry that like to "think for themselves".
Highly recommended.

Finally, cudos to Amazon for stepping up on pricing, dropping the original price of $17-$18 to the usual $10 for the Kindle edition.

I too was ready to purchase Andrew Ross Sorkin's book. However, I will not pay Amazon, Viking, or Sorkin a premium price for an ebook.

Please reconsider the pricing for this book. The Kindle community is watching and is not amused.
Rating: 5 (The Kindle price is too much?)

I expected to read some reviews about the book, but I found complaints about the price of a Kindle version being more expensive than the hardcover. $.33 is what you all are complaining about? Did you spend all your money on a Kindle? Give me a break. $.33 is worth not carrying a heavy book. Wake up, folks. I don't own a Kindle. I'm thinking about borrowing the book from the library.
Rating: 5 (book reviews are for content, not price)

Look folks, I understand your concern about pricing, but reviews are about CONTENT, not price. It is unfair to slam a book based on pricing and not content. If you are most concerned about pricing, read romance novels. They're cheap, but so is the content. For those who don't want to pay the price or can't pay the price, that's what libraries are for. This book is excellent and should be read and pondered by all who care about our financial future.
