Hotshot spies never die. They just slip undercover. Julia Torrison-codename Sheba-is keeping secrets. Seventeen months ago she was a CIA superagent, tracking down dangerous terrorists with her partner and lover, Conrad Flynn. A mission was blown, literally, when a bomb Julia built exploded early and Conrad died. Yanked back to Langley and given a new identity, she is now the Counterterrorism Center's top analyst, spending her days at CIA headquarters and her nights in the bed of her boss. Her former life as a secret agent has been sealed off. Like her heart. Conrad Flynn-codename Solomon-has his own secrets. For starters, he's not dead. Going under the deepest cover possible, he faked his death to save Julia's life. Now he must tear her life apart and ask her to help him hunt down a traitor: her new love. Is Con a rogue agent or just a jealous ex-lover? To find out, Julia will have to enter a web of seduction and betrayal to play the spy game of her life using nothing more than her iPod-and her intuition. Julia warns: "Beware of sexy spies bearing gifts. Trust no one and sleep with a gun under your pillow." Conrad warns: "Sex, lies and tantalizing suspense.don't worry, I'll protect you."

Rating: 5 (Best Romantic Spy Adventure that I have Ever read!) Was helpful to 23 from 23 votes
This is the absolute best romantic suspense story that I have ever read! Do not miss reading this treasure. Keep an eye on this author because Misty Evans is going places!
Julia and Conrad are CIA operatives who are working on an overseas undercover assignment together, and they are also personally involved. Con is a former Navy Seal who took Julia under his wing during her CIA training, and for the past 5 years they have been living and working together. Julia feels intuitively that something is off with their current mission, something is just wrong with it, but she does not know what it is that has her so concerned. She expresses her thoughts to Con, but he just minimizes her feelings, tells her that everything will be fine as he departs for his dangerous assignment, leaving Julia waiting for him in their apartment. Conrad dies in an apparent premature explosion during his mission, leaving a devastated Julia to return home to America to work at CIA headquarters, and to try to heal her broken heart.
A year and a half pass and Julia has become involved with the new CIA director, Michael Stone, who is the youngest chief ever appointed to that position. Awakening in Michael's bed one morning, Julia senses someone is in the bedroom with her and she knows instinctively that it is not Michael. Carefully pulling her gun out from beneath her pillow, Julia fires 2 shots before being disarmed, and finds herself enclosed in Conrad's arms again. Conrad swears her to utmost secrecy about his existence and presence there at Michael's home, tells her that he will see her soon, and slips out of Michael's house through the many alarm systems without being detected. Michael returns from his morning run to an empty bed, the smell of gun powder, and 2 bullet holes in his bedroom walls. Frantic with concern, Michael spots Julia sitting on his balcony with her hand still clutching the gun. Julia, deeply shaken by the unexpected arrival of her "dead" lover, makes up an excuse and leaves Michael's home to return to her own apartment before going to her work as an analyst at CIA headquarters.
Thus begins the most romantic suspense story that I have ever had the pleasure of reading. Julia's lost love Conrad tells her of a traitor within the CIA, and that her life, and the lives of many others are in grave danger. Together Julia and Conrad, along with some trusted friends, set about unmasking the traitor within the organization. Who stands to replace Michael if he dies, or is discredited somehow? Why is Julia's name on a Kill List?
While I was reading this story my hubby and I were alone in the car together traveling from Kentucky to Texas , and I kept exclaiming "This is the best book that I have ever read", "Oh, Wow", laughing, saying "please don't hurt the dog", "someone please save her" as I busily scribbled notes for my review. Finally hubby asked if he could read it also after I told him about the plot. He said it sounded like a book that anyone, male or female, would enjoy, and he is absolutely correct.
This is truly the best book that I have ever read. I adore this story, and I sincerely hope that Ms. Evans will continue to write more fabulous stories such as this one. Operation Sheba is not at the head of the class, it is in a class by itself. The adventure never stops, it is really sexy, and the reader will go from laughter to terror as the plot is uncovered and the traitor is exposed.
Operation Sheba by Misty Evans is a Keeper..I rated it 5 stars because I cannot go any higher. Privately I say 10 stars out of the 5 stars possible...It is that fantastic. Enjoy!

A year and a half ago Julia Torrison's life literally exploded all around her. A CIA agent, Julia is adept at tracking down terrorists with her lover and partner, Conrad Flynn. When a mission goes from bad to worse and Conrad is killed, Julia is pulled and reassigned as an analyst stateside. With a new lover and name, Julia protects her heart and her memories of Conrad never knowing that he did not die. Finally making his appearance in Julia's new life, Conrad abducts her with the intent of saving her. It seems there is a traitor in her midst and Conrad somehow must convince her that it is not him.
Operation Sheba by Misty Evans was a good story although at times I had a hard time understanding all of the various nuances of the plot. I was able to go back, reread, and understand the basic plot of the story. My heart wanted to like Julia but I found her abrasive and too rough. I was not able to get a feel of her romantic inclinations towards Conrad and as a reader, I have to have believe that the heroine and the hero are genuinely in love. If I can't, then the book to me is just words. I have to admit that Operation Sheba was well written and suspenseful. It is fast paced with lots of action and I am convinced I am not the norm in my inability to connect with this book.

I absolutely loved Operation Sheba written by newcomer Misty Evans. From the opening pages this author has the ability to connect with her reader on so many levels. Suspense, romance and realism. Julia is an absolutely sympathetic heroine, torn between two powerful, sexy men. Imagine losing the love of your life and then to have a second chance at love with one of the most powerful men in the CIA, to discover the operative you once worked with isn't dead, and that he'd gone rogue to protect you. That's what Julia faces, two men who love her deeply, but each who put duty first. Ms. Evans does her research. If you want a glimpse of the CIA, spies, suspense and romance, I recommend Operation Sheba. What's more I plan to pick up this author's future work because I know it will be a guaranteed good read.
Rating: 5 (Gripping) Was helpful to 2 from 2 votes
OPERATION SHEBA is gripping. Ms Evans has no difficulty bringing her characters to life, even when one of them fakes his own death.
CIA Super-agent, Julia Torrison is piecing her life together after her boyfriend and partner's death. Tormented can hardly describe her guilt when she built the bomb that exploded prematurely.
Conrad Flynn did what was needed to keep Julia alive. Now he must destroy her new life as Langley's Counterterrorism's top analyst. An agency mole has a hit list and Julia is on it.
I found it heart wrenching when Julia confronted her boss, who is also her boyfriend, and told him who she was. After this emotional scene, I nearly squeezed the computer screen to black when she raced from his house with the mole seconds behind her. I just knew Conrad was going to be too late in reaching her.
Ms Evans writing style is superb. She takes you into the story and keeps you close while she winds her way through top secret doorways. Her plotting and setting techniques are brilliantly displayed.
This genre is not a favorite of mine, but this book certainly is! If you read no other book this season, read OPERATION SHEBA. This author is TOPS!

Julia Torrison - codename Sheba
Seventeen months ago, Secret Agent Julia Torrison's life changed dramatically. The bomb that she constructed, blew up too early and killed her partner and lover, Conrad Flynn. Julia was immediately snatched off field work and given a desk job along with a new identity. Now, Julia spent her days being an analyst in the counterterrorist unit. And, deep down inside, she blamed herself for killing the man to whom she gave her heart.
Conrad Flynn - codename Soloman
In order to learn the identity of the mastermind who issued a hit list, that including his partner and lover Julia Torrison's name, Conrad Flynn secretly faked his death. He hated lying to Julia; but, Con was willing to do whatever it took to protect the woman he loved. Seventeen months after being deep undercover, Con finally learned who was trying to kill Julia - it was her current lover. Now, all Con had to do was to convince Julia of that fact. But, his first step was to re-enter Julia's life. How will Julia react to seeing him after he had been `dead' for almost two years? And, more importantly, will she believe his story?
OPERATION SHEBA was a heart-pounding, super-hot read that I hastily demolished until the spectacular conclusion found its way before me. The engrossing plot was fantastic and it held my interest with its continuous non-stop action and blazing sexual interactions. Con was determined to protect Julia at all costs. He believed that he had truly uncovered the traitor and he wanted Julia to help take him down; however, Julia didn't easily believe that the sweet, caring man who had helped her overcome the ordeal of Con's death could be person who wanted her dead. So, she decided to conduct her own investigation which caused some friction both in and out of bed for Julia and Con. Overall, OPERATION SHEBA was a thrilling, erotic spy game that I enjoyed playing.
